Taxidermy
Your Trophies, Preserved for a Lifetime
PUBLIC POLICY DISCLAIMER, PLEASE READ:
We know how important it is for you to get your trophies exactly the way you want them—something you can admire for a lifetime of memories. This matters to you, and it matters to us.
That’s why we trust Splitting Image Taxidermy, one of the most respected taxidermists in all of Africa. Their work is nothing short of exceptional, and their reputation speaks for itself. Located in Port Elizabeth, South Africa—just a three-hour drive from our lodge—Splitting Image has handled many of our personal trophies, including a once-in-a-lifetime black-maned lion, leopard, buffalo, record Roan, and more.
Full Transparency—No Hidden Kickbacks
Many hunters don’t realize that most outfitters receive a “nondisclosed” 20% kickback from the taxidermists they refer you to. In our opinion, that means you’re often paying inflated prices without knowing it, while the outfitter may pocket a secret commission. We learned this the hard way on our first African safari, as we were not told this overcharged amount by Life Form Taxidermy—only to later discover that Zambezi Delta Safaris had a financial stake in this company. We believe in making a profit but the client/customer should be made aware of the profit amount and be able to decide “as the consumer” if they are agreeable to that amount! Otherwise individuals may be taken advantage of unfairly and unknowingly.
We refuse to operate that way. We believe in full disclosure—period. Instead of taking a hidden commission, we pass those savings on to you, ensuring that you pay 20% less than the standard rates.
Simple, Fair Pricing
Regardless of how many animals you take, we charge a flat $300 USD fee to register and deliver your trophies to Splitting Image.
After delivery, you deal with them directly—choosing your mount style and arranging shipping without any middleman markups.
That said, we urge everyone to research and ask questions securing for themselves a trusted, reputable and honest taxidermist for Africa’s very beautiful animals. It is important to know who you are dealing with and secure your financial interests while in a foreign country. We unfortunately learned the hard way on our first trip to South Africa over 5 years ago and vowed to do our best to disclose all that we have learned and know, to protect all who visit and transact business in this breathtaking country we now call our 2nd “home”!
At the end of the day, we want you to have the best-quality taxidermy possible—a trophy room filled with world-class mounts that reflect the adventure of a lifetime without knowing how it all works and is hidden from the consumer (or what they call over here…”the rich American”)
Our very best wishes,
Tim & Kim Sundles
